Whitney Lauritsen
Whitney Lauritsen is best known as 'Eco-Vegan Gal' from her wildly popular blog www.eco-vegangal.com. While this blog is an education for environmentalists & vegans alike, it doesn't even scratch the service of why Whitney is one of the 'Top 10 People' that inspire me.
I find Whitney's passion for life.....INSPIRING. She has more passion for life than most people that I have ever met. We happen to have multiple similar interests which is why I began reading her blog in particular. I was inspired actually that she talked about much more than 'veganism' and expanded into photography, clothing, environmental pursuits, etc. You begin to realize that 'veganism' is a lifestyle far beyond the fruits & vegetables.
She is someone that I aspire to be like. I am most passionate about veganism, animal welfare, photography, acting, film, fashion, etc. She is involved in all of the above. We all meet those people in life that motivate us to 'act'. I rarely meet someone who inspires me enough to make a change in my own life so, when I do, it's pretty spectacular. Who inspires you? I'd love to hear from all of you - send me a tweet or an email and let me know!!!

Biography:
2003 Whitney went vegan and it changed her life - she became healthier, happier, and more aware of her effect on the environment. When she realized that people were interested in learning about her lifestyle she started a blog to share her journey; Eco-Vegan Gal has evolved into a resource on all things vegan, green, and healthy.
In addition to writing and photography, Whitney applies her background as a filmmaker to the site, creating video reviews, interviews, and event coverage. Though based in San Francisco, she reports on other parts of the world whenever she travels. Whitney has a B.A. in film production from Emerson College and lives in the Mission District with her eco-vegan dog Evie and her semi eco-vegan boyfriend Owen.
I believe she appeals to her readers because 1). She shares her own struggles in a journal like format via youtube, 2). There is just something about her that reminds you of someone that you have been friends w/ for years. Please check out her youtube channel & you will better understand, 3). She is very open and direct about her values as it pertains to being 'eco-vegan'. I just haven't found anyone that matches her passion for what she is doing - although many come close (0:
Finally, I love that she takes you along (her vlogs) to restaurants and basically shares the 'how to' as it pertains to being eco-vegan. She seems to multi-task like a pro and appeals to vegans that work in both the corporate world as well as from home. I have learned so much about how veganism doesn't have to be a detriment to your social life - from Whitney. The fact that she takes you along to the actual restaurants in various cities, shows you the menu, etc. is beyond helpful. She is often w/ friends who are both vegan and non-vegan so, she doesn't simply paint a picture for you - she brings it to life - literally.
Whitney, if you are reading this, thank you so very much for inspiring me to pursue my own passions, ditch dairy once & for all, make my home a more 'green' environment and simply find joy in the little things. Thank you for all of the time & effort you put in to sharing your life w/ us - your readers. Cheers to you & all that you do for others!!!!!!!!
Girl Gone Vegan,
Kelly O'Brien
