Declutter Your Mind - Feed Your Soul

Picture

Hi all - a personal blog post at your request.

Today I want to challenge all of you to declutter your mind & feed your soul.

I see numerous articles on decluttering your home, office, closets, etc.  I don't see many articles on decluttering your mind.

Feeding your soul.....what does that look like? I will do my best to share how I feed my own soul.

My boyfriend left today for a long road trip.  While I am already missing him, I am realizing how important it is to take care of myself, put myself first and clear my mind from the endless drippling of thoughts about everything from my heath, family, friends, obligations, my home, etc.  I know so many of you have an endless feedback loop of 'to do lists', 'what if's', 'relationship questions or concerns', 'health decisions', etc.  Life is hectic isn't it?  We spend so much time planning 'our plan' for 'one day' that those big & small plans never come to fruition.  So part of decluttering is 'doing' vs. planning.

Another part of decluttering is prioritizing.  It's so important to focus on what is most important to you - this very day.  You need to know deep in your soul what it is that you want in all areas of your life.....in order to bring those dreams to life today - now. No more 'one days' - take steps now.

'Never sacrifice what you want most for what you want least'.  I read that line somewhere & it has stuck with me for years.  We are brilliant time wasters, aren't we?  If you don't agree, take a look at facebook or twitter.  People spend so much time in the 'self help' section of bookstores that the best self-help would probably be to put the books down, grab your camera and take a road trip yourself.  If you want to lose weight, get off the internet and better use that time to take a walk.  This all pertains to decluttering your mind.

What matters most to you today?  My recommendation is to make a list and check it off.  I do this often and it feels so good.  It leaves me feeling accomplished, empowered, relaxed and plain ole happy.

Decluttering your mind is possible if you are deliberate about it.  Everything is possible when you are deliberate in your actions.  Ok, so it may not be easy but it sure is possible.

There are other ways to declutter your mind as well:  Yoga, Meditation, Jogging, Painting, Biking......and engaging in any activity that brings your focus  to the present.   When you start to worry, eliminate those thoughts with a positive affirmation, Bible verse (in my case), Universal quote/verse or whatever suits your fancy.

I am challenging all of you & myself to be deliberate & just do it (as my post on MindBodyGreen  'Just Do It...Already' suggested).  It's a flowing theme throughout my website - to take action that is authentic to you.  Focus on what is important to you today - the rest can and will wait.   Worrying is a time and energy drainer - so today, do not worry.  Overanalyzing situations is an energy drainer.  Wondering what others think is a waste of our time.  Always pay attention to people's actions, not words.  It will take all of the guess work out of the meanings behind each of our style of language.

We don't need to complicate this at all - Keep It Simple & Be Deliberate.  You are going to feel rejuvenated as it's quite refreshing to simplify your mind.

Now to Feeding that soul of yours.  What makes you tick?  What makes you smile - that really deep genuine smile?  What makes you want to 'act' ?  Your answers are precisely the 'key' to knowing how to feed your own soul.

Be Kind to yourself.  Fill your body with delicious plant based healthy foods.  Alkalize your cells with hearty salads, seasonable fruits, watermelon smoothies and scrumptious organic meals.

Spend the majority of your time with the people who lift you up - People who you just adore - People who make you laugh!

Focus on what makes you happy!!!! I am not just referring to an activity or person that makes you happy but your thoughts and words as well.  Speak positive affirmations into the world.  Speak about your friends with such admiration and love.  Tell them how important they are to you - this too will feed your soul.  Speak of your significant other with thoughtful 'zest' & remind him or her why it is that you cherish them today.  I am learning that Word Affirmation is always in style....that is in my world (0:

Whatever it is that makes you feel GRAND - do more of that!  Take a look at the list to your left - suggestions galore.

When you feed your soul in combination with decluttering your mind, I can tell you with certitude that you are going to feel more energetic, motivated, loved and simply joyful!!!!!

Cheers,

Girl Gone Vegan,

Kelly Lynn
